The answer to this page’s own question is the first entry.
That is not a gap. It is the finding.

How long is it?

Rockstar has never said how long Grand Theft Auto VI is, and nobody outside the studio has been given it to play: there has never been a press preview, a hands-on event or a playable demonstration of it anywhere. Everything the public has seen is two trailers, a set of official screenshots and a handful of character and location pages.

So the length of this game is blank in the strict sense this site uses that word: nothing reliable exists, and the publishable answer is the absence rather than a plausible-looking number.

What is in the 27 August showing?

Two dates matter to this question and only one of them will produce a number. A showing is not a specification: even if the Extended Look is the narrated gameplay presentation the earnings call implied, a runtime for the campaign is not the kind of thing a trailer states, and Rockstar has not said what is in this one or how long it runs.

What has been announced about it is on the Netflix Extended Look.

Is there more after the credits?

“How long is it” is usually three questions: how long the main story takes, how long it takes to finish everything, and how long people keep playing afterwards. None of the three has an answer yet, and the third is unusual here — for Grand Theft Auto V it was answered by GTA Online, which Take-Two says will carry on after this game ships. For Grand Theft Auto VI there is, so far, nothing to answer it with.

How firm the “single-player experience” wording is, and how firm it is not, is set out on the online mode.

Known — three answers

Everything on this page that is settled, and none of it is a duration.

Has anybody played it?

No. No press preview, no hands-on, no demonstration.

The strongest single fact on this page, because every hour figure in circulation would have to have come from somebody who had. None did.

Confirmed Rockstar Games Newswire /

When does more material arrive?

27 August 2026. An Extended Look.

The first scheduled first-party material in over a year, and the first opportunity for any of the blanks above to move.

Confirmed Rockstar Games Newswire /

When can it be measured?

19 November 2026, by the people who play it.

The first honest figures will come from players and reviewers after launch, and they will be measurements of individual playthroughs rather than a specification — which is why they will disagree with each other and all be correct.

Routes to a numberThree

Checked

Hour figures for this game do circulate, and they are specific enough to look researched. None of them appears on this page, for one reason: not one can be traced to Rockstar, to a Take-Two filing, or to anybody who has played the game.

They are produced in three ways, and all three yield a number that looks authoritative and carries nothing.

  • Extrapolation. Somebody takes a completion time for an older Rockstar game from a crowd-sourced tracker and adds a margin for ambition. The output is an opinion about an unplayed game, expressed in hours.
  • Counting something in leaked material. Missions, files or map markers in a stolen build get converted into a runtime.
  • Assertion, then repetition. A figure is stated once, quoted by an aggregator, and the quotation becomes the citation. After three hops it has a footnote and no origin.

The third route is easy to watch happening, because it has already happened to a number about the map: the “700+ enterable buildings” figure is presented as confirmed constantly and has no first-party source at all. Every hour figure attached to the campaign stands in exactly the same place.

Why a leaked mission count would not give you a length

Delays inside that windowTwo

This site writes about leaks and grades them; it does not host them. No still, clip, model or line of code from any breach appears anywhere on GTA6Notes, and nothing on this page is derived from one. Our reading of the more recent material is on the August 2026 leaks.

Set the legal question aside and a mission count from leaked material still would not answer this question. It is a count of what existed in one internal build, at one moment — the 2022 material predates both of the game’s delays and the years of work either side of them.

And missions are not a unit of time. They vary enormously in length, and the hours a player spends between them — driving, failing, restarting, ignoring the story altogether — are not in the count. A mission list describes a structure, not a duration.

This is also the point where an article of this kind prints a table of previous Rockstar games and their average completion times. There is no such table here. Those figures come from crowd-sourced completion trackers, this site’s fact base carries no attributable measurement of any Rockstar campaign, and a completion time for a game released more than a decade ago is an analogy for this one rather than a measurement of it. What can honestly be compared between the two games is set out on compared with GTA 5.

Stated in first-party material, or shown in official footage. Two attributable sources where possible. Nothing reliable exists. Stated plainly rather than filled with speculation.

No row here carries an hour figure, because no hour figure has a source. This page will carry one the day it can be attributed. Until then, the answer is that nobody knows.
