Struck through, never deleted

Four widely repeated claims have been contradicted outright by first-party material. They stay on this page with a line through them, because a correction that cannot be found does no work at all.

Somebody who read three months ago that the boxed edition contains a disc will search for that claim, not for its retraction. So the retraction lives at the claim, in the same words the claim was made in.

Claims contradicted by first-party material

  1. Disproved

The game slips again, into 2027.

Claims in mid-2026 that the game would slip again into 2027 have no first-party backing.

Circulated by YouTube and social-media "insiders". Contradicted by Take-Two reaffirming 19 November 2026 on 21 May 2026 and again on 7 August 2026.

    Dexerto
  2. Disproved

GTA VI is confirmed for Nintendo Switch 2.

Claims that GTA VI is confirmed for Switch 2 are false.

Contradicted by Rockstar's own platform list, which names only PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

    GameSpot
  3. Disproved

The boxed edition contains a playable disc.

Claims that the boxed edition includes a playable disc are wrong.

Contradicted by Rockstar's own product description. Recorded because retailer listings early on implied a disc.

    Push Square
  4. Disproved

An online mode ships alongside the game on 19 November 2026.

Claims that an online mode ships alongside the game on 19 November 2026 are unsupported.

Contradicted by first-party product descriptions that name only a single-player experience.

    GamesRadar+

The struck line is the claim as it circulates. The line under it is what the record actually says, and the column on the right is where to check it.

01The bar

What it takes to move a claim to debunked

Requireda first-party statement the claim cannot survive
Not sufficientdoubt, implausibility, the passage of time
Entries meeting it4

One thing, and only one: first-party material that says otherwise. Not a journalist doubting it, not an analyst calling it unlikely, not the passage of time, and not this site finding it implausible. Rockstar or Take-Two has to have published something the claim cannot survive.

That bar keeps the register small and keeps it worth citing. Four claims currently meet it. Everything else that is widely repeated and unsupported sits at Rumoured on the ledger, which is a much longer list.

02Distinctions

Four registers that are constantly confused

The confusion between them is where most bad reporting about this game comes from. A date the publisher replaced is not a false claim; an unverified claim is not a debunked one.

Where a claim goes, and what putting it there asserts 4 registers
Register What it means Example Where it lives
Debunked First-party material contradicts it GTA VI is confirmed for Switch 2 This page, struck through
Superseded True when stated, then replaced by the publisher The 26 May 2026 release date The delay history
Rumoured Nobody has confirmed it and nobody has contradicted it Whether the August 2026 material is genuine The ledger
Unknown Nothing reliable exists in either direction The size of the map The topic page itself, stated as blank

Only the first row is an accusation. The other three are descriptions of what is on the record, and moving a claim between them without new material is the failure this page exists to avoid.

03Dates

Release dates that were never real

One date claim is on this register, and it is worth being precise about why the other two are not.

What about the dates that were dropped?

Superseded, not false. Rockstar replaced its own.

Contradicted by Rockstar's own second delay notice. Recorded because the May date circulated for six months. Superseded, not debunked: this was accurate when stated.

Confirmed Rockstar Games Newswire /

What contradicted the 2027 claim?

Take-Two restating 19 November to its own investors.

Zelnick: "excitement around the November 19th launch of Grand Theft Auto VI". This is the most recent first-party restatement of the date.

Confirmed Take-Two Interactive investor relations /

The game has genuinely been delayed twice, and the dates dropped along the way are not false claims — they were accurate when Rockstar stated them and were then replaced by Rockstar. The full sequence is on the delay history, and the open question of whether the current date holds is on will it be delayed again. Neither is a correction; both are a record.

04Leaks

Fabricated leaks and AI-generated footage

This section is empty, and it will stay empty until something can be sourced into it. To debunk a supposed leak, this site would need first-party material saying the material is not genuine — and on the one substantial case there is no such statement.

Has Rockstar called the August 2026 material fake?

It has said nothing at all, in either direction.

Unlike 2022, when Rockstar acknowledged the intrusion within a day. Legal filings are the only response so far.

Confirmed Den of Geek /

So where does that leave it?

Posted on 18 August 2026, and unverified since.

Authenticity is not established. Graded rumoured because no first-party confirmation exists that the material is genuine, and takedown activity is not itself proof of provenance. This site does not reproduce any of it.

Rumoured GameSpot /

Moving that material here would be a guess wearing the costume of a correction. The 2022 breach material is absent for the opposite reason: it was real, and Rockstar confirmed the intrusion within a day. What is known about both episodes is on the leaks page

05The pairing

Features claimed, and the sentence that killed each one

The remaining three entries are feature claims. Each is set beside the first-party statement it cannot survive, because a strike-through with nothing next to it is only an assertion.

Disproved

An online mode ships alongside the game on 19 November 2026.

The entry, in the register above

What does Rockstar call it?

A single-player experience, in its own store copy.

The most load-bearing piece of wording in the whole marketing campaign. It is a description, not a denial — but it is consistent across every first-party surface.

Confirmed PlayStation.Blog (Rockstar-authored) /

Disproved

GTA VI is confirmed for Nintendo Switch 2.

The entry, in the register above

Which platforms were announced?

PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Nothing else.

These two are the only platforms named in any first-party material to date.

Confirmed Take-Two Interactive press release /

Disproved

The boxed edition contains a playable disc.

The entry, in the register above

What is in the box?

A download code. There is no disc.

Confirmed in Rockstar's own pre-order materials and widely criticised by collectors and retailers.

Confirmed Push Square /

Note what none of those first-party statements does. Rockstar has not said there will never be an online mode, never a Switch 2 version, never a disc. It has described the product it is selling. The claims are debunked as stated — as confirmed facts about launch — and the underlying questions remain open and are graded as unknown elsewhere on this site.

06The rule

Why nothing is deleted from this page

Entries deletednone, ever
Entries added since publication4
Register opened

A correction that cannot be found does no work. Deleting the entry would hand the query straight back to the sites that got it wrong, so entries are struck through and kept, with the date, the source of the claim, and the material that contradicted it.

The register only ever grows. If a claim on it were somehow to become true — Rockstar announcing a disc edition, say — it would not be quietly removed; it would gain a dated line saying so.

Mistakes this site has made

There are none on the record yet, and saying so is more useful than saying nothing. This site published its first pages in August 2026; no claim it has graded has since had to be regraded, and no fact has been withdrawn.

When that changes, the error will be listed here with the date it was published, the date it was corrected, and what was wrong — not edited out of the page it appeared on. A reference that quietly fixes itself is indistinguishable from one that was never wrong. The rule is on the corrections page; the grading it would be re-run under is on the four grades
