Is GTA 6 coming to Switch 2?

No Switch 2 version has been announced. Rockstar's platform list covers PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S only, and reports claiming a Switch 2 port is in progress have not been confirmed or denied by anyone first-party.

Will it ever come to Switch 2?

That no version has been announced is confirmed. That no version is coming is not confirmed, because nobody with the authority to say it has said it. Three things are true at once, and dropping any one of them produces one of the two wrong answers in circulation.

A Nintendo machine has never appeared on a Rockstar or Take-Two platform list for this game — not in the pre-order announcement, not on the storefront listings, not in an earnings release. Neither has PC, which is worth holding on to: absence from the list is a weaker signal than it looks, because the list is short and one obvious platform is missing from it too.

What is settled

Two confirmed entries · one of them a refusal to commit

Has the publisher promised anything?

It supports the console. It commits no title to it.

Read it once more: the publisher will support the console, and will decide title by title. That is a company keeping an option open. Headlines compressed it to a pledge of Switch 2 support, and readers finished the sentence with the game they cared about.

Are there really port tests?

A report, at one remove, with nobody named.

Rumoured GameSpot /

That is the whole of it: a report, relayed at one remove, that internal testing has taken place — with no named source inside Rockstar, no document, and no confirmation from Rockstar, Take-Two or Nintendo. Internal testing on a platform is also, on its own, weak evidence of a release: studios evaluate hardware they never ship on, and evaluation leaves the same trace as a shipping port.

It is recorded here because it is repeated everywhere, not because it establishes anything. That is exactly what the rumoured grade is for.

But it is confirmed, isn't it?

Confirmed for Switch 2

Contradicted by Rockstar's own platform list, which names only PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

Disproved GameSpot /

That claim stays on this page struck through rather than deleted. It is contradicted by Rockstar's own platform list, and it goes on circulating everywhere else — so the one page that can correct it has to still contain the words somebody will search for.

Where the hardware argument runs out

Nothing published to fall short of

A municipal light mast we photographed frontally against flat sky in a tall frame, carrying no lettering.

The "it is technically impossible" camp is as unsupported as the "tests prove it is coming" camp, and for a related reason: there is nothing published to argue from. No target frame rate, no resolution, no performance modes — for the two machines the game has been announced for.

Analysts doubting a 60fps mode on a PS5 Pro tells you the game is demanding. It does not tell you what a scaled-down version on other hardware could or could not do. That is a question about engineering decisions nobody outside Rockstar has seen.

What do the analysts say?

They doubt 60fps even on a PS5 Pro. It is a reading of two trailers.

Digital Foundry's reading of both trailers is that a 60fps mode is unlikely even on PS5 Pro, with CPU simulation load the likely bottleneck.

Rockstar's history with Nintendo hardware

Not printed here, and it would not decide it anyway

This is where a page like this normally reaches for a list of past Rockstar releases on Nintendo consoles and calls it a pattern. This site cannot: no such record exists in the fact base behind these pages, and it will not be reconstructed from memory to fill a section.

It would not decide the question if it were here. A publisher that shipped on every previous Nintendo machine could still skip this one, and a publisher that skipped them all could still ship this one. Precedent describes what happened; it does not report what is happening.

Until then the answer is that nobody outside the companies involved knows, and the people telling you otherwise — in either direction — are telling you what they expect rather than what has been said. See also what else is circulating and what it rests on, the full platform list, the PS4 and Xbox One question, which has a definite answer, and the PC version, which is unannounced in the same way this one is.
