Has anything genuine ever leaked?
Yes. About ninety videos, in September 2022.
Widely described as one of the largest leaks in game industry history. This site describes the event; it does not host any of the material.
Confirmed Axios /
16 claims are circulating widely and not one of them is established. Each row below carries the outlet the claim can be traced to and the date that outlet published it — which in several cases is an outlet relaying somebody else relaying an anonymous source.
Being listed here is not an accusation. It is a statement that nothing first-party supports the claim yet. The four numbers in the rail on the left are this page's own composition, in proportion, at all times.
Sixteen claims,
nothing behind them
| State | Claim | Source and date |
|---|---|---|
| Rumoured | A claim that the PC version targets February 2027 comes from anonymous ex-employees contacted on LinkedIn. | Insider Gaming |
| Rumoured | Reports that Rockstar has run internal Switch 2 tests are second-hand and unconfirmed. | GameSpot |
| Rumoured | A report that a true disc-based edition will ship in December 2026 is unverified and has not been announced. | GameLuster (relaying PPE.pl / leaker "Graczdari") |
| Rumoured | Analyst data suggests about 89% of early pre-orders were for the $99.99 Ultimate Edition. | Sensor Tower via TechRadar / GamesIndustry.biz |
| Rumoured | Manni L. Perez is widely believed by fans to voice Lucia, on resemblance and interview hints alone. | PCGamesN |
| Rumoured | Leonida is understood to be modelled on Florida, but Rockstar has never said so. | Wikipedia (Grand Theft Auto VI) |
| Rumoured | The widely repeated figure of "700+ enterable buildings" has no first-party source. | Circulated by fan and aggregator sites |
| Rumoured | Chatter that an online component arrives within about a month of launch is unattributed. | Circulated by fan and aggregator sites |
| Rumoured | Retailer listings and leaks pointing to a 60fps performance mode are unverified, and technical analysts are sceptical. | Notebookcheck (citing Digital Foundry analysis) |
| Rumoured | An MA15+ entry for GTA VI on the Australian Classification database is disputed and probably an IARC self-assessment rather than a board decision. | PCGamesN |
| Rumoured | The often-quoted $1–2 billion development and marketing budget has never been confirmed by Take-Two. | Wikipedia (Grand Theft Auto VI) |
| Rumoured | Analyst first-year forecasts range widely, including DFC Intelligence's $3.2 billion on 40 million copies and Niko Partners' $1.2 billion first-day figure. | Wikipedia (Grand Theft Auto VI) |
| Rumoured | A figure of $5 million and thousands of staff hours for Rockstar to recover from the 2022 breach has been reported but not published by Take-Two directly. | Wikipedia (Grand Theft Auto VI) |
| Rumoured | On 18 August 2026 a group calling itself CyberLeek posted material it claimed came from Grand Theft Auto VI, including footage and an image said to be the Leonida map. | GameSpot |
| Rumoured | CyberLeek published a manifesto framing the leak as a protest against digital-only distribution and game monetisation, alongside promotion of a cryptocurrency token. | Forbes |
| Rumoured | The claim that the second delay was caused by the October 2025 dismissals is inference from timing. | Wikipedia (Grand Theft Auto VI) |
Stated in first-party material, or shown in official footage. Two attributable sources where possible. Nothing reliable exists. Stated plainly rather than filled with speculation.
01The bar
A claim is listed here when it is widely repeated and not established. That bar is deliberately low, because the point of the index is to be where a reader lands after seeing something and wanting to know what is behind it.
The bar for leaving the page is much higher. A claim moves in one of three directions:
Nothing here is graded on how plausible it sounds. A claim that reads as obviously true and has no first-party sentence behind it stays at Rumoured; a claim that reads as unlikely and has one is Confirmed.
The full definitions are on the four grades, and what counts as evidence at all is on the source policy
02Provenance
A track record is worth less than it is usually treated as being. An account that was right about a date once has not thereby acquired access; it has acquired an audience. What separates the rows below is whether the person making the claim was in a position to know, and whether anybody can check.
| Kind of source | Example on this site | What it is worth |
|---|---|---|
| First-party statement | Rockstar Newswire, a Take-Two press release | Enough on its own to grade a claim Confirmed. |
| Regulatory or investor material | Take-Two filings and earnings calls | Confirmed. Expensive to get wrong, so rarely loose. |
| Outlet quoting a named person | Reporting on the boxed edition and on platform support | Confirmed when the person quoted is first-party; Rumoured otherwise. |
| Third-party measurement | Analyst estimates of the pre-order edition split | Rumoured. Real data, undisclosed method, not the publisher's own number. |
| Technical analysis | Frame-rate readings taken off the trailers | Rumoured. Informed inference is still inference. |
| Anonymous insider | The February 2027 PC date, sourced to ex-employees | Rumoured at best. Unverifiable, and former staff do not have current schedules. |
| Aggregator repetition | The enterable-buildings figure | Nothing. Repetition is not evidence, however many sites do it. |
The ceiling on the last two rows is why this index is long. Most of what circulates about this game arrives through one of them.
03Fakes
This page names no specific AI-generated GTA VI fake, and that is not an oversight. To name one, this site would have to source both the material and the finding that it was fabricated, and it can source neither. Publishing an unsourced accusation of fakery breaks the same rule as publishing an unsourced claim.
What can be sourced is narrower, and more useful:
Has anything genuine ever leaked?
Yes. About ninety videos, in September 2022.

Confirmed Axios /
What has the publisher's side actually done?
Filed takedowns and asked courts for account records.
Reported deadlines for third parties to produce records fall in early September 2026.
Confirmed GameSpot /
Has Rockstar said anything about it?
No. Not one public word.
Unlike 2022, when Rockstar acknowledged the intrusion within a day. Legal filings are the only response so far.
Confirmed Den of Geek /
Can a leak change what the publisher does?
Once. Trailer 1 was pulled forward a day.
Rockstar posted: "Our trailer has leaked so please watch the real thing on YouTube." This is why sources disagree on whether the trailer is a 4 or 5 December release.
Confirmed Forbes /
Those four together are the whole shape of the problem. Material that was genuine was established as genuine because Rockstar said so within a day. Material posted in August 2026 has had no such statement, so its authenticity is unestablished — not proven, not disproven — and it stays at Rumoured until that changes. Takedown activity is a legal reflex, not an authentication.
Whatever is claimed, this site will not host it. In full:
04Corrected
Four claims have been contradicted outright by first-party material and are still repeated. They are kept visible, struck through, so the correction stays findable rather than quietly disappearing.
The game slips again, into 2027.
Claims in mid-2026 that the game would slip again into 2027 have no first-party backing.
GTA VI is confirmed for Nintendo Switch 2.
Claims that GTA VI is confirmed for Switch 2 are false.
The boxed edition contains a playable disc.
Claims that the boxed edition includes a playable disc are wrong.
An online mode ships alongside the game on 19 November 2026.
Claims that an online mode ships alongside the game on 19 November 2026 are unsupported.
Each of these is set out in full, beside the statement that killed it, on the debunked page. The one people ask about most — whether the date moves again — has its own page at will it be delayed again
05Withdrawn
A withdrawal register only means anything if it is kept whether or not there is anything in it. As of the date stamped on this page, nothing has been withdrawn from this index: every claim ever listed is either still here, or has moved to debunked, or has been confirmed and moved to its topic page. No entry has been deleted.
When one is, it will be listed here with the date and the reason, in the same weight as everything else, and dated on the changelog. What counts as an error here is set out on the corrections page. What is claimed about the August 2026 material specifically is on the leaks page
