What is Leonida?
An invented US state, and the whole game
Described as "home to the neon-soaked streets of Vice City and beyond".

Leonida is an invented US state, not a real one, and it is the whole game: everything announced for Grand Theft Auto VI takes place inside it. Only seven places in it have a name anybody can source. No other place in the state does.
All but one of the seven carry a phrase of description from Rockstar; Mount Kalaga National Park was published as a name and nothing else. A separate one of the seven arrived in a character bio rather than in the location material, and is missing from almost every other list. Nothing first-party says where any of them sits.

Rockstar’s own descriptions are a phrase each, and those phrases are what appear above. They say what a place is. They do not say where it sits, how large it is, or how it connects to anything else — which is the whole of the official geography, and the reason the map hub opens the way it does.
Two of ours, in the register the descriptions above are written in. Neither is a picture of a place in the game, and neither is a picture of a real place that has been identified with one. A phrase like “a tropical archipelago” describes a kind of country; it does not describe a location, and a photograph of that kind of country cannot be made to either.
03Not known
Far more of the state has been shown than has been named. The Trailer 2 drop is the largest body of official material in existence — around seventy screenshots and two trailers — and it still names only five locations. Almost everything shown of the state carries no first-party name at all.
Fan atlases supply names for a great deal of it, and some of those names are repeated often enough to read as official. None of them is. This register grows only when first-party material names something, which is exactly why it is short — and why it has grown by nothing in fifteen months.
04Provenance
Two kinds of claim circulate. The first is a number presented as a specification: the enterable-buildings figure in the table below, which no first-party material contains. The second is material taken from a build — in August 2026 a group published what it said was a map of Leonida, along with footage.
None of that material is reproduced here, and no name taken from it has entered the register above. Not because it is certainly false, but because nothing about it has been established, and an unverified image of a map is not a source for what a place is called. What was claimed, and what has happened since, is set out on the August 2026 leaks

Stated in first-party material, or shown in official footage. Two attributable sources where possible. Nothing reliable exists. Stated plainly rather than filled with speculation.
06The material
Because there have only ever been three chances for it to grow. Two trailers and one scheduled showing, with no press previews and no hands-on events in between, is a very small amount of material to name a state from. The Extended Look on 27 August 2026 is the next opportunity for a name to enter this list. If one does, it will appear here with the date it was said, and nothing else about the page will change. Until then seven is the number, and the honest answer to what else is in Leonida is that nobody outside Rockstar knows.
What the state is generally taken to correspond to in the real world is a separate question, and a different kind of claim: real-world counterparts sets out which places the fandom maps onto which, and on what basis. How large any of it is has its own page, and the answer there is blank.
