GTA 6 Online

None announced — confirmed · whether one exists — unknown · no name, no window, no price

Known — four answers

That no online mode has been announced is checkable against every first-party surface this game has.

Is there a multiplayer mode?

None has been announced.

Confirmed in the strict sense this site uses the word: it can be checked against the storefront listing, the pre-order materials and Rockstar’s own writing, and none of them names one.

Confirmed GamesRadar+ /

How does Rockstar describe it?

A single-player experience. Everywhere.

It is a description of the product, not a denial of a future one — but it is the description Rockstar chose to repeat everywhere at the moment it began taking money.

Confirmed PlayStation.Blog (Rockstar-authored) /

Does my GTA Online character survive?

The existing GTA Online is not being switched off.

Take-Two has said support continues after this game ships. What it has not said is for how long, at what cadence, or whether anything transfers to a mode that has not been announced.

Confirmed TweakTown (reporting Take-Two earnings remarks) /

Not known

Three standing questions.
Unknown is the published answer here, not a placeholder for one.

Is one coming at all?

The pre-order announcement is the most telling document. It named two editions, two prices, a bonus pack, a pre-load date and a free month of GTA+. If an online component were being sold, it is the page it would have been sold on.

Three things would move this out of the blank column, in roughly this order of strength: a Rockstar post or storefront listing that names a mode; a Take-Two earnings statement giving a window or a business model, which would put the claim in the same class of document as the release date; or a platform listing showing online features on the product page, which is where the absence is currently most visible.

Statements to citeNone. No name, no window, no price, no business model
Would settle itA Newswire post or storefront listing naming a mode, the way the pre-order announcement named the editions
CitedAbsence of any first-party statement

Would it be cross-platform?

With no announced multiplayer mode there is nothing for crossplay to apply to, which makes this a blank inside a blank. It is recorded separately because it is asked separately — see crossplay and cross-progression.

Open since
Statements to citeNone. Nothing has been said about crossplay or cross-progression
Would settle itA platform listing declaring cross-platform play, or a Rockstar statement of it

What arrives after launch?

Take-Two’s filings are the reason the release date is treated as firm on this site rather than as marketing: a date in a Form 8-K is a statement to regulators. Which is exactly why the absence beside it matters — the same filings say nothing at all about an online mode or about anything following the game.

The claims in circulation

Recorded hereTwo
Contradicted by first-party materialOne, struck through and kept
Attached to a named sourceneither

There is a large and confident body of writing about GTA VI Online. Almost none of it names a source that could know. Two claims are repeated often enough to be worth recording, and they are graded differently because they fail in different ways.

The first is contradicted by first-party product descriptions, so it is struck through and kept rather than deleted. The second is not contradicted by anything — it is simply attached to nobody, which is what rumoured means on this site. Reports that a multiplayer mode is in internal testing are not recorded here at all: this site did not find one traceable to a named source, and an untraceable claim is not made publishable by being repeated.

Specific dates circulate constantly — a month after release, the holidays, December, spring. December 2026 is worth naming because it is the one date in this area that does trace to a report, and the report is about a boxed disc rather than about an online mode. It is unverified even for that.

What the filings and the numbers establish

GTA V unitsOver 230 million
Recurrent consumer spending84% of Q1 net bookings
Mentions of an online modenone in either

Two kinds of document get offered as proof that an online mode is coming. Neither one mentions one, and it is worth being precise about what each actually contains.

The court filings this site has been able to trace around Grand Theft Auto VI in 2026 concern the August leak, not the game’s feature list. They establish that Take-Two is pursuing account records; they establish nothing about what is in the game. The leak is covered separately on the August 2026 leaks.

The numbers are more interesting, and more often misused. Read them as they stand: a company taking 84% of its net bookings from recurrent consumer spending has a very large incentive to build a live service on top of its biggest release. That is commercial reasoning, and it is good commercial reasoning. It is not an announcement, and this site does not promote inference to a grade. If it did, the pages worth trusting would be indistinguishable from the pages that guessed correctly.

Stated in first-party material, or shown in official footage. Two attributable sources where possible. Nothing reliable exists. Stated plainly rather than filled with speculation.

Until one of the three announcements above exists, the answer stays as it is: nothing has been announced, and nobody outside Rockstar knows. For how the two games differ where something is actually on record, see compared with GTA 5; for the mechanics that have been shown, see gameplay and features. Checked .
