Where is it set?
Vice City, returning.
The first mainline return to Vice City since the 2002 game of that name.

This page is the citation spine of the site. A large share of what is graded confirmed here traces back to one of the showings below, so they are listed in order, dated, with what each put on the record for the first time.
Three showings in nearly three years is a small body of evidence, and knowing its exact size is the first defence against a fake. Anything not on the list is not an official showing — there has been no trade-show demonstration, no press preview and no hands-on event.
Two released.
One scheduled.

Stated in first-party material, or shown in official footage. Two attributable sources where possible. Nothing reliable exists. Stated plainly rather than filled with speculation.
02December 2023
Announced a month ahead, tied to Rockstar's own anniversary, then released a day early because a watermarked copy escaped first. That detail is worth keeping: it is why sources disagree about whether Trailer 1 is a 4 or 5 December release.
Where is it set?
Vice City, returning.
The first mainline return to Vice City since the 2002 game of that name.
Confirmed Rockstar Games Trailer 1 /
What window did it carry?
Coming 2025 — since superseded twice.
Superseded twice. Kept here because "GTA VI is a 2025 game" is still repeated in old articles. Superseded, not debunked: this was accurate when stated.
Confirmed Rockstar Games Trailer 1 /
What was it scored to?
Tom Petty, Love Is a Long Road.
The track's Spotify streams rose sharply afterwards.
Confirmed Wikipedia (Grand Theft Auto VI) /
How far did it travel?
About 93 million views in a day, YouTube alone.
A record for a non-music video at the time. It was a YouTube-only release.
Confirmed Wikipedia (Grand Theft Auto VI) /
Why do sources disagree about the date?
It was pulled forward a day when a copy escaped.
Rockstar posted: "Our trailer has leaked so please watch the real thing on YouTube." This is why sources disagree on whether the trailer is a 4 or 5 December release.
Confirmed Forbes /
The release window it ended on has since moved twice, which is why it is kept graded and dated rather than deleted — see every delay, in order
03May 2025
Trailer 2 arrived four days after the first delay was announced, and it came with far more than a video: character pages, location pages and a large set of screenshots. It remains the single largest body of official material about this game.
What was it answering?
A delay, announced four days earlier.
First of two delays.
Confirmed Rockstar Games Newswire /
How was it captured?
In-game on a PlayStation 5 — which is not gameplay.
"In-game" is not the same as "gameplay" — the trailer is cinematic, not a gameplay demonstration.
Confirmed GTABase (quoting Rockstar's trailer notes) /
What was it scored to?
The Pointer Sisters, Hot Together.
Confirmed GTABase /
How far did it travel?
Over 475 million views in a day, all platforms, per Rockstar.
Multi-platform total, so not directly comparable with Trailer 1's YouTube-only figure. Rockstar called it the biggest video launch of all time.
Confirmed TechRadar (reporting Rockstar's claim) /
| Field | Trailer 1 | Trailer 2 |
|---|---|---|
| Released | 4 December 2023 | 6 May 2025 |
| Length | About 91 seconds | Not recorded here |
| Music | Tom Petty, "Love Is a Long Road" | The Pointer Sisters, "Hot Together" |
| Capture platform | Not stated | PlayStation 5, in-game |
| Published alongside it | Nothing on our record | About 70 screenshots, character and location pages |
| Release window it carried | "Coming 2025", since superseded twice | None on our record |
| First 24 hours | About 93 million views, YouTube only | Over 475 million views, all platforms, per Rockstar |
The two view counts are not comparable and should never be quoted side by side as growth: one is a single platform measured by YouTube, the other is a multi-platform total published by the company that made the video.
A full breakdown of what is in it, and of the readings it does not support, is on the Trailer 2 page. The screenshots published with it are first-party material and are treated here exactly like trailer footage: as evidence to cite, not to copy.
04August 2026
It is not called a trailer, it premieres on a streaming service rather than YouTube, and its contents have not been described.
When exactly?
3pm ET on Netflix. 9pm ET free, on Rockstar's own channels.
Confirmed Video Games Chronicle /
Is there gameplay in it?
Take-Two told investors it is an extended gameplay reveal.
This is the closest thing to a first-party statement that the showing contains gameplay.
Confirmed Take-Two Q1 FY2027 earnings call transcript (The Motley Fool) /
The thirty-minute figure that circulates is not a Rockstar number, and neither is the description of it as a narrated presentation. An earnings call is the closest thing to a first-party statement of contents anywhere, and a single clause to investors is a thin basis for a strong claim.
Everything known about the showing is set out on the Extended Look page, which becomes its archival record from 28 August.
05Fakes
No. Rockstar has announced no third trailer. It has announced a third showing, and named it "An Extended Look" rather than Trailer 3 — a distinction worth holding onto, because a great deal of what circulates under the name Trailer 3 is fan-made. If a Trailer 3 is ever released it will appear on this page, dated, on the day it happens.
There is a simple test for the rest, and it does not require you to judge the footage. Official GTA VI material has only ever appeared through Rockstar's own channels: the Newswire, the official YouTube channel and the official GTA VI site — with Netflix added for the Extended Look, announced in advance on the Newswire. A video that reached you any other way is not an official showing, whatever it looks like.
Material claimed to come from a breach is a separate category, and being genuine would not make it a showing either. What is claimed, and what is established, is graded on the August 2026 leaks page
06The pictures
Every picture here is drawn for this site. We do not host trailer frames, screenshots or footage, and the images below are not captures of anything — they are our own work, used because the alternative is republishing somebody else's material to decorate our own commentary.
Three frames, drawn for this site. We illustrate; we do not reproduce, and no frame from any trailer appears anywhere here.
The practical effect is that a claim on this site points at the showing it came from and names the date, and you go and watch the thing itself. That is also why the citations are worth something: they survive us.
